In this first step you will be drawing out the shapes and guidelines for Pikachu. Start by drawing an egg shape that is lying sideways. Now draw in a big “+” sign for the facial guidelines as shown. Then draw a wide “W” for the top of his mouth. From the head shape you need to draw the shape of his body that basically looks like a big marshmallow. Now draw the remaining guidelines for his ears and his arms.
This way you can even stretch the imagination of the viewer outside of the frame of the drawing. A few remarks on Tree-drawing seems a necessary addition to the chapter on Sketching, as trees are almost invariably the first objects which a student

The season for afternoon and evening excursions is near. In coming days I want to do a couple of drawing studies on twigs and branches. The beginning is made with a stack of apple tree timber on a meadow. I started with a slow, controlled hand to draw the outline of some cut twigs. The dark shape was good to see against a bright background. Also the sun helped to see the volume of the twigs too.

How the trees, grass and foliage are represented in a drawing have a direct impact on the entire mood of the drawing. In figuring out to draw trees myself, I discovered some references that provided me with an excellent foundation to developing my own style. The most influential and important reference that I can recommend is

Most trees will flair out just as they meet the ground. Emphasizing this flare, and avoiding drawing the tree trunk straight, will give the tree a good base.

Remember that trees are actually a cylinder in shape. The shading should represent a cylindrical object. Also the bark of the tree will gradually get more dense on the edges as it wraps itself around the tree. (See sample below).

…………………………………………………..

Many budding artists of all ages are put off because they’ve only previously managed a ‘lollipop’ that they remember producing when they were at school.

And yet, a lollipop isn’t a million miles away from many real trees in full summer foliage.

You just need to know where to ‘tweak’ your sketch to make your lollipop look the part. So if you think you couldn’t draw the tree below – or even better? Well read on …

First, let’s start with an outline of a head and the positioning of the ear. See that triangle joining the chin, eye, and ear? That triangle is something I learned in art class and there’s a specific term for it (which I’ve forgotten. <.<) When looking the profile, the ear is at the level of the eye. Perspective is a different matter, but I'll get into that later.
